Are You Struggling With ADHD?

If your brain feels like it has forty tabs open — and you keep getting told to "just try harder" — therapy can help. Not by fixing you, but by building strategies that work with your brain instead of against it. I'm Edward Davey (RSW, MSW), and that's exactly how I work with ADHD.

It's Not Laziness

Let's get this out of the way first: you are not lazy. If you know exactly what you need to do and somehow still can't start — if you lose hours without noticing, if you start strong and fizzle out, if you leave a trail of half-finished projects behind you — that's not a character flaw. That's a brain that works differently.

The frustrating part is the gap: you know you're capable, and yet daily life keeps tripping you up. Over time, that gap fills with shame — and the shame makes everything harder. Sound familiar? You're not alone, and you're not broken.

I'm based in Orangeville and serve clients across Dufferin County — and with virtual sessions, anywhere in Ontario. Together, we can build practical systems that fit the way your brain actually works.

How I Work With ADHD

My approach is shame-free and practical — full stop. You will never hear "just try harder" from me. Instead, we work with your wiring: understanding how your brain actually operates, then building systems around it instead of fighting it.

Our sessions are collaborative working conversations. We'll figure out where things break down — the mornings, the deadlines, the follow-through — and build concrete, realistic strategies for those exact moments. And yes, there's "homework" between sessions — but it's designed for an ADHD brain: small, specific, and actually doable, not another overwhelming list.

I'm strength-based in how I work, which matters a lot here. ADHD brains come with real strengths — creativity, energy, the ability to hyper-focus on what matters. We build on those instead of only fighting the hard parts.

What Sessions Look Like

Understanding Your Wiring

Early sessions map how your brain actually works — where you get stuck, what derails you, and what you've already tried. No judgment about the messy desk or the seventeen open tabs. Just honest understanding.

Systems That Fit Your Brain

Then we build strategies around your real life: getting started, staying on track, managing time, following through. Practical tools you practice between sessions until they stick.

Follow-Through, Together

Change with ADHD isn't linear, and that's okay. We track what's working, adjust what isn't, and work through the shame and frustration too — not just the planners and timers.

All sessions are currently offered virtually, available anywhere in Ontario.

Signs Therapy Might Help

  • Chronic procrastination — even on things you care about
  • Losing hours without noticing
  • Starting strong, then fizzling out
  • Feeling behind everyone else
  • Saying things impulsively and regretting it
  • A trail of half-finished projects

Common Questions

Do I need a formal ADHD diagnosis to start therapy?

No. If these patterns describe your life — the procrastination, the lost time, the frustration — we can work on them whether or not you have a formal diagnosis. What matters is what's getting in your way.

Can therapy help if I'm already on medication?

Many people combine therapy with medication — decisions about medication are between you and your doctor. My focus is the practical, day-to-day side: the systems, habits, and strategies that make life work better, with or without medication.

Is this just going to be productivity tips?

No. Planners and timers have their place, but we also work on the stuff underneath — the shame, the frustration, the story you've been telling yourself about why you can't get it together. That's where the real change happens.

Are sessions in person or virtual?

All sessions are currently virtual, available anywhere in Ontario. Many of my clients with ADHD actually prefer it — no commute to forget about, no waiting room to sit in, just log on from your own space.
